Myself

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

When I look at this picture of myself, I realize how much I’ve grown and changed, not only physically, but also mentally as a person in the last couple of years. Less than one month after this photograph was taken, I arrived at the University of Saint La Salle in Bacolod City without any idea of what to expect. I entered my second year of high school as an innocent thirteen year-old that was about a thousand miles from home and was a new member of not the sophomore, but “lower-middle” class. Around me in this picture are the things which were most important in my life at the time: studying different types of cars and planes, following every songs made by Mariah Carey, and seeing the latest blockbuster movies like “The Dark Knight” or “Spider Man 3.” On my t-shirt is the rest of my life .. singer. Midway through my senior year at the special USLS school, the focuses in my life have changed dramatically.  online typing job

If there is one common occurrence which takes place for every single person in the diverse student body at USLS, it is that we all grow up much faster for having lived there. I do not know whether this speeding up of the maturing process is generally good or bad, but I definitely have benefited. The classroom has become a whole different realm for me. Before, the teachers and students alike preached the importance of learning, but it was implicitly obvious that the most important concern was grades. At USLS teachers genuinely believe that learning is the most importance objective and deeply encourage us to collaborate with each other and make use of all resources that we may find. In fact, in a certain class this year, my teacher assigned us to prepare every day of the week to discuss a certain book; there were only two requirements in this preparation. We had to maximize our sources, gleaning from everything and everyone in the school, but we were not allowed to actually look at the book. jobs typing work home

As a result, I know more about that book than any other that I have actually read. It is teaching methods such as this which ensure that we will learn more. Indeed, this matter of “thinking” has been one of the most important aspects of my experience. Whether in Physics or English, I’m required to approach every problem and idea independently and creatively rather than just regurgitate the teacher’s words. In discussion with fellow students both inside and outside of class, the complex thoughts flowing through everyone’s brain is evident. However, I believe that the most important concepts that I have espoused in being independent of my parents for half of each year, deal with being a cosmopolitan person. The school’s faculty and students are conscious about keeping all of the kids’ attention from being based on the school. SN:0MA9N2ESY

Every single issue of global concern is brought forth by one group or another whether it be a faculty member, publication, ethnic society, or individual student. Along with being aware of issues of importance, after attending USLS my personality has evolved. First, my mannerisms have grown: the school stresses giving respect to everyone and everything. Our former headmaster often said, “Character can be measured not by one’s interaction with people who are better off than him or herself, but by one’s interactions with those who are worse off.” The other prime goal of the school’s community is to convert every single timid lower-classman into a loud, rambunctious senior. Basically, if you have an opinion about something, it is wrong not to voice that opinion. Of course, being obnoxious is not the idea. The key is to become a master of communication with teachers, fellow students, all of who are a part of the community, and most importantly, those who are outside of the community.

World Class Customer Service Creating Stable Focus

Have you ever rolled over in the morning, trying to defy gravity by racing to work, get the kids, clean, fed and have never had the flexibility of being home. Even though I wear a “Super Mom” cape, and I tell them to “reach for your dreams” I found myself trying to remember my dreams. No, I didn’t think at the age of 5 about being a medical transcriptionist, but I wanted to save people, help people and build people up. I wanted to be a nurse-or a doctor, or the one to find a cure for cancer. However, while I was growing up—Life happened. Now, I find myself focusing on the dreams I once had a little later than I had planned. I’m entering the medical field, and the field I am choosing is Medical Terminology. It may not have the patient standing in front of you–but you are part of a team. A team of medical experts, depending on your skill–accuracy, and dependability. The medical transcriptionist is the one who gives the patient the relief of knowing.

So I’ve taken a hard look at my “Super Mom” cape, and myself, and am researching medical transcription criteria so that I can achieve my dream. The medical transcription position offers a variety of creative pluses. It gives me the opportunity to set a schedule–so I can hand deliver my children to school for their education, doctors appointments and even dance recitals. The flexibility of working from home gives you the chance to be your own boss, your own check and balance. Above all else dependability for your position. However, this position offers a great deal of time and communication of accuracy between yourself and the ones you support. The MT position allows for growth to start as a MT, then an assistant account manager and work up a chain if you so choose and have the desire and time for. However this position, would allow me to step into a different role—a role of woman, who has always inspired to see medicine from all angles to being a support to a team of doctors, and patients. Of course, the cape of “Super Mom” will always been worn, when my children need me. But as a woman of character and strength, I want to be able to tell my children I achieved the goals I set for myself as a MT and that all dreams are possible to reach, if you make it happen. First, I want to achieve my MT Certificate, get an online typing job and make money–which wouldn’t. However, I want to go beyond the “normal” and make things “Super”. I want to have the relationship with the staff of physicians, and nurses so they can depend on me and my accuracy for details, accounts and challenges. I want to take that to the next level of showing other MTC “Super Supporters” that they are the backbone. Anyone who has ever waited by the phone to get a call about lab results, or pregnancy results etc knows the anticipation of waiting for results. I want to be a “Result”. I don’t want to be statistic or just a mom. I am going to work towards being a better person–a better me, and a “Super” support, cape wearing supporter.

Why Become a Medical Transcriptionist?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

When I was young, I have learned that hospitals are haven for recuperation. People are rushing towards the emergency room and nurses are always ready to combat the battle. I have seen these scenes before my eyes and it did not occur to me that I will be one of the hands that will help people on their way to recovery. As a Professional Nurse in my own country, it has been my principle to prolong the life of every patient. Even if the patient is dying, it is right to give justice to his life and death. I wanted to become a medical transcriptionist because I know my capability as a nurse, I will be able to relate with the medical terms and procedures done in every patient. Through this, I can also update myself with new technologies from other countries used to treat complicated diseases. With this, I can also enhance my transcultural nursing skills. In one way or another, I can be in touch with different types of patients and have them assessed accordingly.

Working in this industry will be in accordance with my schedule since I just stay home in the morning and with this, I can still spend my time taking care of my parents. I just pass the board examination last November and this will be a great opportunity for me to use the knowledge I’ve learned for 4 years. My nursing education will be my greatest advantage in entering this industry. For almost 3 years, I have been taking care of a diversity of patients in our locality. I have faced a lot of challenges while having my duty and I am confident that I am capable of managing my time effectively even if I have a lot of patients to take care of. Those experiences made me more versatile and efficient. SN:0MA9N2ESY

Being a medical transcriptionist is a task that will enhance your critical thinking skills, communication skills and fine motor skills with regards to typing correct information from a recording. You can learn new things in the medical field by just listening and sitting down. By listening to the recordings, I will also be able to review myself with terminologies that are commonly used and some unfamiliar things too. You gain knowledge, experience and quality time with family by just staying at home. Another thing is I have internet connection at home and a desktop computer which I strongly believe will be helpful in pursuing this kind of career. I have been facing my computer the whole time and this is the time that I should start making use of it. While online, I can learn new things even if I have already graduated. With this, I would like to be trained as am medical transcriptionist and soon find home typist jobs where I can apply the skills I’ve learned. Once I have established my own online typing job, I will be able to pursue a lot of opportunities related to this industry. I could start a business out of this. The earnings I will have can be of great help for my family’s welfare.

Everyone has a dream

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Everyone has a dream that they have always wished to pursue, and if they want it bad enough they will do anything it takes to reach it. There is no doubt in my mind that the medical field is for me. Ever since I can remember, all I ever imagined myself doing was working in the health field. I had dreams of becoming a nurse because changing lives and helping others makes me feel good. From allied health science classes, CPR and first aid courses, to an upcoming associates degree in histotechnology within the next year, I have decided that I want to pursue a career as a MT. I have put a lot of time into thinking of becoming a medical transcriptionist. I understand that it is not an easy job, and it not only requires a great deal of work and effort to put forth, but even more patience.

Needless to say, to sit in front of the computer for hours is not for everybody, but it is a great online typing job. I on the other hand, would be more than willing to have this type of career. I have always been good with computers, and my skills vary widely. With the economy being the way it is, not many can afford to spend exorbitant amounts of money for schooling. I am currently enrolled in college, majoring in Histotechnology. I want to keep my options open and expand my career horizons as well. I feel that I am indeed well qualified, and I fit the job description of an MT. My computer skills are proficient, and I have had experience with dictation previously. I used to work as a Physical Therapy Tech, and I was in charge of the dictations every day. I really enjoyed doing it, and it gave me the urge to further seek the possibility of pursuing a career in that area. Most of it came to me naturally, but it did help that I took a health science course in high school, in which included medical terminology.

Also, I am currently taking Medical terminology in college. I learn quickly, and work at a fast but steady pace. I am motivated, dedicated, a great listener, and I take my education seriously. I enjoy learning new things every day, and I know that I will learn a lot from this course. There are many advantages of working in the medical transcriptionist industry. Firstly, I like that I can take the course from online. The flexibility of hours and the fact that I can work from home at my own pace plays a big part too. My fiancé is currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and I’m sure with him doing that it would definitely be a plus that I get to work from home. Another advantage is that I will be working on a computer, which is good for me because I have a great amount of competent skill and experience working with them. Several people told me that I would have been perfectly suited for a career in computer technology, but the medical field is where my heart is. However, it’s sort of like getting the best of both worlds because now I’d get to work with the two things I love most. I have also taken computer classes throughout high school as well. I love that I could work from home but still am able to get other tasks done. SN:0MA9N2ESY

Running a business may also be an option in the future once I gain more knowledge. In conclusion, I am extremely interested in training with future MT. Browsing through the internet, I found that they are the best choice that I have came across. Not many other programs have attracted my attention as this one has. I like that they offer a variety of student loans and payment plans, and that they give every person the opportunity to be eligible for scholarships. I like their professionalism, and the way they run their business. With that being said, I know that future MT will contribute to my career greatly. Reading the testimonials captivated me even more, and the FAQ’s section helped a lot. Their site provides every bit of information there is to know, and I honestly feel that I can benefit from taking this course. Medical transcription is something I have seen myself doing for quite some time now. In the next few years I hope to see myself achieve an education and career in this industry, with several work at home medical transcription jobs opening for me. I would love to have the opportunity to open an MT business, as well.
