Better Skin With Laser Treatment
Saturday, July 30th, 2011Life is a process of growth, and unfortunately for some, undesirable skin conditions are some of its side effects. Some individuals would try to do something about it, but most attempts proved fruitless. Lately, another door has been opened and we don’t have to wait for time to heal our wounds. With the discovery and development of laser treatments, it is already possible to address skin concerns in a more effective way.
Skin treatment regimens vary according to what condition you have. You may have heard of several terms associated with this type of skin management, and they differ in the wavelength of light used. Such treatments are really just subcategories of the ablative and non-ablative, or simply put, the superficial or deep laser management. Different lengths will target different layers, so the specific treatment of choice will depend on what layer is involved in your lesion.
The gold standard treatment for most conditions is CO2 laser. Recently, some other variations have surfaced and have also proven to be good alternatives. The following are some common issues people complain about, and we note the corresponding treatment procedure for them.
1.Pimples
Skin acne is the bane of a teenager’s life. No one wants a face filled with acne, and, more importantly, no one wants to live with a permanent pock-filled face. For residual scars, the management of choice is CO2 laser while alternatives are Erbium:YAG and fractional laser.
2.Slackness of the Skin and Wrinkle Lines
Let’s face it. We become older and visible signs manifest on the face such as loose skin and age lines. The plan of management is to resurface and tighten skin, and this is achieved through CO2 laser treatment, best of all. Other successful treatment procedures involve Erbium YAG and Pulsed Dye lasers.
3.Skin Discolorations
Once again, laser treatments have been proven effective in age spots. The sun spot is another pigmented lesion that can occur. Both are now treatable using either a Pulsed dye, fractional, or Nd:YAG laser.
4.Precancerous Lesions
Surgical removal used to be the management most doctors preferred for suspicious lesions like moles. Now, ablative lasers such as CO2 and Erbium:YAG can be done instead.
So, there is no need to think your skin problems are hopeless. With laser treatments, anything is possible.
