Advice For Depression

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

A few months ago I managed to find a way of eradicating my ever recurring problems of becoming down and depressed. In this article, I write about this discovery which I hope will help other people to lead much happier lives, free from anxiety and stress.

Before I continue I would like to point out that I am in no way involved in the “depression industry”; I actually involved with stammering treatments, DVD replication and providing people with information about how to become a foster parent.

I am the type of person who can easily let things get on top of me. If I am rushed about here there and everywhere by my family or friends, I am often left feeling very drained and exhausted. I am sure this is the same for many people but the way it affects me over the next twenty-four hours is somewhat different. I seem to lose all of my energy and this then can easily lead me into thinking in a very negative way, often ending with me becoming quite depressed.

For whatever reason this depression can stay and in a way haunt my life for quite a few days. I begin to worry about the future, start to think that I am a failure, start to become paranoid about what other people think of me and basically become scared to leave my own house.

Possible solution to my depression

A few weeks ago I was watching a television program which has since had a massive impact on my life. It was an army type program and it talked about how one particular group of soldiers had all seemingly become ill and could not even complete the most routine of tasks.

A doctor or some other type of medical person was called to their camp to investigate what was wrong. The initial belief was that it was likely to be some form of food poisoning.

The doctor actually stated that the men had salt deprivation and called for for a large amount of salt tablets to be bought to the camp.

The next time I felt I was becoming down or when I was over tired, I ate food products which contained a lot of salt and I am very happy to report that I quickly regained my energy and confidence levels. Such a simple solution to what was once such a huge problem for me.

I know that what I have written above may well seem rather bizarre however it works for me. Why not give it a try yourself the next time you are feeling a bit low? You never know it might just work.

The Importance, Health Wise, Of Obtaining A Good Night’s Sleep

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

A good nights sleep has many important health benefits which I will write about in this article. I am the kind of person who is just unable to perform to my best if I have only had a small number of hours of sleep, I also have a step-daughter who is extremely moody during the next day, if she has not had slept for around seven hours during the night.

I am by no means involved in the “sleep industry”; I am in fact involved with offering online guitar lessons for beginners, stammering treatment and advising people how to become a foster parent.

Sleep itself has many benefits. People who often find themselves in a depressed state, which is what I have been in the past, can find that a good nights sleep can have a very positive affect on their overall state of mind. This could be because it helps people to think in a clearer and more positive way. The sleep helps bring more life and energy into people helping them to start fighting their problems and challenges.

Sleep can also help people who are often stressed. This is very much for the same reasons as above. What people may of course say is that they actually find it hard to sleep when they are stressed or depressed. In conclusion, I would advise people to enjoy the benefits of sleep. Sleep in some peoples eyes is a hassle and they would rather be watching the television or socialising with their friends. As previously stated I treat sleep as a hobby and look forward to going to bed. For people who are prone to depression or who are often stressing about this or that, a good nights sleep could be exactly what you need. When I am in the type of mood that means I find it hard to get to sleep, for example when I have a lot on my mind, I imagine that I have driven off to some long off place in the distance, parked up the car and then have gone to sleep in the back of the car with around four pillows and three quilts. I suppose this is a way of me dreaming of running away from my troubles to an area where no-one can hurt me and again making myself extremely warm and comfortable. This again might be a bit weird in some peoples eyes but it helps me to get to sleep. It certainly beats counting sheep.

From a personal point of view, I have found that even though it is important to sleep for quite a long time (around seven or eight hours per night), that it is also important not to over stay in bed in the morning. As strange as it may sound and you may well think that I am some sort of nut case but I often think that I am heavier – or at least it feels that way. This leaves me in a negative and lethargic mood all day. At the end of the day this may just be me – I am the first to admit that I am a little bit different to the average person. I basically in general go to bed at around ten at night and wake up at around seven in the morning.

What I enjoy most of all is what happens in my house at around eight o’clock most evenings. This is the stage of the evening when my eight year old son will toddle off to his bed. He always has around an hour of playing with his toys before he decides he is ready to go to sleep and he likes me to listen to him whilst he is playing. This is fine by me as it allows me to lie in my bed and relax. I do not always fall asleep but it is extremely enjoyable to hear him play while at the same time I am in a way re-charging my batteries.
